Unexpected Passing of the Juice

On April 10, 2024, O.J. Simpson passed away. Immediately, there was an uproar, like during most of his career. In 1994, Simpson’s ex-wife Nicole Brown Simpson was stabbed to death, along with her friend Ronald Goldman.

Simpson became the biggest suspect in the murder. Prior to this, Simpson had a very successful football career. He played in the National Football League for 11 seasons. His primary team during his career was the Buffalo Bills. Despite his career success, he is most well-known for his murder trial.

The trial began in 1994 and lasted 11 months. In the end, he was found not guilty. There were many different reactions to this sentence, or rather lack thereof. To this day, the trial and case have been a cultural phenomenon.

Simpson has been the bud of the joke repeatedly and it still can never be confirmed whether or not he did it. In 2007, Simpson published a book titled: “If I Did It: Confessions of the Killer”. Yet on the cover of the book, the “if” is so small that you will not see it right away. This is not the first time he has alluded to his guilt.

At one point there was an incident with a reporter in which he acted as though he was going to stab her. The reporter stated that she thought “he wanted me to bust him”. He was infamous for things like this. It was as if he wanted everyone to think he did it without ever being able to prove it.

In May of 2023, Simpson revealed that he was battling cancer. Earlier this year, he was put in hospice care for a few months. The day after he was released from hospice and sent home, he passed away from prostate cancer. The moments surrounding his death are still unknown. He was said to have had his children around him, but that story was then changed and now it is being said that he only had his attorney by his side. There were also rumors that his children had to sign NDAs before seeing him on his deathbed. Many people hearing that immediately thought it was because he told them the possible truth about what happened to their mother. However, none of this has been confirmed and may never be.

There has also been much speculation surrounding what his last words were. Some assume he simply said, “I did it”. But again, nothing has been confirmed and it is likely it never will be. In any case, Simpson’s death caused a huge spectacle, mostly online. There have been videos going viral of people celebrating, people jokingly saying he was innocent, or they were “on his side” and people being genuine when saying some of the same things.

Whether or not Simpson was innocent will never be known. He will probably continue to be a conversation topic for as long as people remember him, either in a good light or bad. But Simpson will go down in history, no matter what story of his is being told.
