Senior Kevin Zaleski (C’25) is a dedicated Cross-Country and Track and Field athlete. On top of being a three-season athlete, Zaleski is also part of the ROTC Program. Zaleski balances the challenges that come as a student-athlete while also enduring demanding military training. His leadership on and off the track, got him the award of being team captain for the 2024-2025 season.
This past summer, Zaleski was in Hawaii and Kentucky for Army training. Due to Army training being different from running training, the beginning of his cross-country season was a bit more difficult.
Despite this setback, by the time Conference season came around, Zaleski managed to drop a full minute off his time. Running a personal best of 26:11.3 which was his strongest race of the year! He credits his teammates and his determined mindset for his success.
Now it is Indoor season and he is building on his Cross Country high. He credits his teammate Sunahi for pushing him to better his speed and endurance. As MAAC Conferences are approaching, Zaleski said, “I am feeling very confident that our team will do well. We have a very talented young team, and I am trying to help out by making the finals of the 800 [meters] and running on a relay squad.”
As he gets ready for his last Outdoor season, Zaleski has two main goals that he would like to check off- making finals for the 800 meters at Outdoor conferences as well as breaking the 1:50 mark.
Besides running a lot, Zaleski is strongly committed to his military career. After he graduates in May, Zaleski will be on his way to Georgia for the Infantry Basic Officer Leadership Course.
Kevin’s positive attitude will serve him well as he finishes his college career and transitions to his professional life.
