The Mount St. Mary’s Men’s Basketball team is headed towards a great season, with a strong start under their belt. The team has won three out of the four games they have played so far this season. Adding another victory in their blackout game on Saturday, Nov 16, against Saint Francis University. This win not only boosts their record but also strengthens their confidence as they look to build momentum moving forward. The combination of skill, teamwork, and determination is setting the stage for a promising year ahead.
When speaking with several players, a common theme emerged was the importance of teamwork. Many emphasized how crucial it is to support each other, especially when facing challenges on the court. They shared that overcoming adversity together helps strengthen their bond as a team, allowing them to push through tough moments.
Terell Ard Jr (C’25) and Dallas Hobbs scored 12 points in this game. When speaking to Ard he reflected on the team's performance, saying that “Going into the game we did good together, we played as a team. In the game you will have ups and downs. We made a couple mistakes down the stretch but overall, we came together and played well.”
Ard’s reflection on the game highlights the importance of teamwork and resilience. Although the was down a few players, they did not let that stop them from working together and pushing through the adversity. Hobbs agreed that what has made their team strong is their teamwork.
Xavier Lipscomb (Grad student) Scored a total of ten points in this game. When speaking to Lipscomb he shared that “Our coaches preach to us that we have enough depth as a team to persevere any challenges one man is facing.” His words reflected the team's collective mentality, especially considering they were playing without a few key players who were absent due to illness. Despite these absences, the team was able to adapt and perform, showcasing the depth and versatility that their coaches had instilled in them. Lipscomb's performance on the court was a testament to that resilience, as he stepped up to help fill the gap and ensure the team’s continued success.
Dola Adebayo (C’25) Scored a total of ten points in this game. When speaking to Adebayo he shared that “I think the coaches are doing a great job, since they got here it's been a complete culture shift and practice has been pretty fun, I haven’t been able to say that before.” His comment highlights the positive impact the new coaching staff has had, not only in team strategy but also in transforming the program's overall atmosphere.
