Kyle Davis was named the NEC Player of the Week Tittle

Kyle Davis (C’23) majoring in business was named the Northeast Conference Player of the week as a sophomore. Davis played the Forward position while leading his team to their first win of the season. Davis scored on a penalty kick in overtime leading the Mount Soccer team to victory over Sacred Heart at Waldron.

Davis stated, “It is an amazing award to receive I was surprised because I was not focused on an award, I just wanted to play a good game.”

Davis finished the game with two goals and an assist at the Mount and his fist NEC Weekly award title.

Justuss Akinlosotu (C’23) said, “I was not surprised and this is the first time I saw Kyle for Kyle by that I mean as the player he is and his true potential.”

This becomes no surprise to any college soccer sport fans as Davis is one of the top recruiters in the country coming out of high school, where he attended Bowie Highschool. Davis had a great freshman year as he started in all 17 games for the soccer team. Davis made his first two career goals in a 2-1 win over American. Davis had two goals and one assist for five points during his freshman season which started his collegiate debut.

Bryan Cunningham head of the Men’s Soccer coach says, “I thought he had a great match and we been pretty hard on Kyle at practice these past weeks because he has not been playing to our expectations and he really responded this weekend.”

Cunningham states that he is excited for Kyle and his teammates who have been very supportive of one another and pushed him to be in this position that is well deserved.

Davis added, “I want my team to win the rest of the games this season. I want to keep getting good performances and my end goal is conference championships.”

As we rave about Davis and his NEC Player of the week award, we wonder what he will do next as expectations rise among his coaches and teammates and the Mount Soccer team plays the next game on Monday, March 29th at 4:00 p.m. at home against Bryant.
