Dr. Carol Hinds was a member and a professor at the Mount community who made an everlasting impact on those around her. While she has shared great memories with her faculty members and peers, who she really made a lasting impact on was her students.

Many of her students reached out and shared numerous memories they had throughout the years with Dr. Hinds. While some are students here at the Mount, others are Alumni who wanted to share show she helped them achieve lifelong goals.

One student, Mitchell Sgrignoli, an alumni at the Mount shared how Dr. Hinds patience and understanding towards his four years at the Mount allowed for him to receive at 4.0 gpa.

He shared that with him being an athlete, she was flexible and understanding towards his complicated schedule and the need to miss class for traveling.

Sgrignoli stated, “It was great professors like Dr. Hinds at the Mount who truly saw the bigger picture. She allowed me to achieve my dream of attending medical school by helping me balance my academic ambitions with my passion for baseball.”

Sgrignoli also mentioned, “Dr. Hinds also took the time to ask if she could write a letter of recommendation for medical school and was always help when contacting alumni.”

Dr. Hinds was not just helpful for students such as Sgrignoli but also Alma Milla.

Milla wanted to share that during her sophomore year, Dr. Hinds had a significant impact on her writing abilities.

She stated, “Not only did she take the time to make comments on my papers, but she offered her assistance after class to help me understand how to improve for next time.”

She shares that she could see improvements within her writing through every submission she made throughout the Honors Origins of the West course. Due to her guidance Milla became “stronger” and Dr. Hinds advice “stuck with me.”

It is clear that Dr. Hinds has made an impact on the Mount community. Not only was she supportive of her faculty peers but she made a long-term impact on her students as well.

Thank you to everyone to has reached out to share memories and stories.
