The cooling weather and changing leaves make way for many fun fall activities. The Mount’s gorgeous campus is the perfect spot to partake in beloved fall traditions.
The University’s location in the Catoctin Mountains is great for outdoor fall activities. Gavin Breneman (C’25) likes going fishing at Owen’s Creek in Catoctin. Mirella Pomilla (C’28) also loves being outside and taking walks, as well as making leaf piles.
Clarissa Kless (C’26) enjoys the changing colors of the leaves. Laura McConville (C’27) loves running in the cool weather. The campus is great for both activities.
There are also many great farms around the Mount. When asked her favorite fall activity, Abby Smith (C’26) said, “I’d say going to the farm for pumpkin picking and apple cider donuts.” Smith loves Wart Farm in New Jersey. Nathan Lehigh (C’28) loves going through corn mazes. Joshua Black (C’28) fondly remembers going to the pumpkin patch when he was younger to pick pumpkins.
Tristian Koerner (C’26) enjoys carving pumpkins. When asked about her process, Koerner said, “I just look up inspiration then go for it!” Isabella Pla (C’26) also enjoys carving pumpkins. Pla likes to use pumpkin carving booklets.
Taylor Beliveau (C’26) goes to different farmers markets. Beliveau reported, “I really like the Catoctin Fruit Orchard Market.” Matt Shannon (C’26) also likes going to the orchard, because he loves apples. Riley Sibila (C’26) also loves apple picking. Sibila’s favorite orchard is back home in New Jersey.
Fall is the perfect time to snuggle up and enjoy the colder weather. Annieka Bangura (C’26) loves drinking hot chocolate and watching movies. In contrast, Bobby Marstellar (C’26) likes watching scary movies.
Fall is also the best time for sweet treats. Cecilia Hetzel (C’28) loves baking fall treats, especially pumpkin bread and cookies. Ashley Stewart (C’28) also loves baking and crocheting. Stewart’s favorite treats to make are cookies and brownies.
Speaking of sweet treats, fall holds a special holiday. When asked about the best part of fall, James McCormick (C’28) said, “Halloween. Best holiday—dressing up, the vibe, it’s just a good day.”
According to some, this may be the best part of fall: for Julie Barton (C’26), fall means hockey season. Barton exclaimed, “Go Caps!”
In this season, embrace your inner Gilmore-girl and all the fun fall has to offer. In the words of Richard Gilmore: “I, am an autumn.”
